How will my staff adapt?
Technology moves on and things need to be done differently to make a profit. Our training gives continuous support to your staff and therefore we can 'ease' reluctant staff into moving forward. If they are on any sort of a bonus scheme, then there should be no hesitation, as they will earn more money. Take a look at the training pages to find out more.
Is it possible to multi skill a panel beater?
Certainly - it's no hardship to learn how to strip and refit a car when you're following methods, and certainly not difficult to learn how to mask and bag, we do draw the line though at asking Bodyshop Technicians to paint, but everything else is achievable. You will always need specialists in your business though, ideally, you'll have one or more people who would take on the jobs with complicated electrical issues for example, or someone who excels at the heavy jig work, but they won't come in and do the complex parts, they'll take on the entire job, from start to finish. This approach is critical to eliminate department changes and enable continuous working and has the side benefit of vastly increasing the quality of work and the job satisfaction of your staff, as they take complete responsibility for the repair from start to finish, rather than being a small cog in a large machine.
Roll primer doesn't work for me.
Traditional roller priming, irrespective of whose paint product you use has major flaws, but used in conjunction with the Symach Flydry or Drytron, the results are perfect, and the benefits are enormous. The three main issues traditionally have been:

Low build - no longer an issue with our system, we achieve over 70 microns depth with 3 coats of high build. Because each coat is 100% cross linked before the next one goes on, we achieve greater depth than spray priming, where spraying onto a previous coat that isn't dry achieves typically half the build.

Poor finish, resulting in difficulty in sanding, and a thin finished coat - Even with good rollers, the finish you traditionally end up with has a stipple type of finish – very rough with an severe orange peel effect. This requires significant flatting effort, only to end up with a finish that can be less than 20 microns, or even grin through to the filler or panel below. Because we apply the product at a higher temperature, it flows far better and completely eliminates the orange peel effect.

Edges that are stepped and roll back when flatting - because electrically generated infrared is either very short wave (sub 1.2µm) or medium wave (above 3.5µm) it relies on conduction to reticulate the paint, meaning the surface dries last, therefore adhesion is not achieved, which results in the edges picking back and clogging paper. The Flydry and Drytron robots emit the exact wavelength required to dry the paint, filler or primer, not the panel, so it's as efficient as it can be, and dries the whole skim at once, not from one side to the other. This way you'll never end up with filer or primer that's dry on the surface but still wet underneath, or vice-versa.

If none of this convinces you we can only suggest you visit our technology centre and working bodyshop and see it for yourself as many times as you require.
How can you produce so many cars in a day?
As this is the key achievement of the Bodyshop Revolution process, an explanation of this realistically means explaining all the changes to your hardware, software, processes and your thinking. In essence, we structure your bodyshop to make it as close to a production line as possible in the paint booth, so that you invoice as many cars each day as you are physically capable of doing through the physical resources present. For a more in depth explanation, come and see us or book a visit to to your site from one of our staff who'd be happy to demonstrate how it could work for you.
Why should I increase my capacity when I don't have enough work provision?
We provide you with the means to get as much work as you can handle - the so called 'Mafia Offer', one that is too good to refuse. A common but unhelpful attitude amongst some bodyshops is the notion that insurers or accident management companies are there simply to distribute repairs to bodyshops, and it's typified by the term "work providers" - in the words of Rob Smale of Ageas, "We don't get up in the morning to give you work, we are customers not work providers".

Bodyshop Revolution businesses attract customers simply by making their own businesses measurably better than any competition - not just in terms of a quality repair, but in the things that really matter to customers - 95% on time delivery, a key-to-key time of less than 3 days, and the best CSI/TNPS scores in the business. Of course, the fact that you're now doing everything so much more efficiently than your competitors means that if you want to take on volume contracts at reduced rates, you'll make money on it rather than just ticking over, but generally as best-in-class operations, backed by our ongoing marketing support, Bodyshop Revolution businesses have significantly less trouble attracting high margin work right across the board from private to fleet to insurance.
What happens in regards to PAS125 / Kitemark
Bodyshop Revolution is completely compatible with PAS125, in fact all the businesses that have implemented Bodyshop Revolution so far have had the Kitemark and maintained it.
Can I still use the same materials and consumables
Yes, Bodyshop Revolution is paint and consumable agnostic - the Symach technology is approved for every major paint manufacturer and our processes work with all standard consumables. We occasionally recommend products but there is no obligation to use them, and no mandating schemes involved, as this adds waste and conflict into your business.
How do I schedule work?
No bodyshop management systems have yet been able to schedule work correctly in a bodyshop, because of the chaotic nature of traditionally run businesses. Flow Logic is our internally developed production scheduling and pull through system based upon the rules of Drum - Buffer - Rope (DBR) methodology. This will accurately load your bodyshop and ensure that work is delivered to your customers precisely on time, reducing workshop management functions and taking out 70% of your work in progress.
How do I reward my staff, should I still use a Bonus system?
Bodyshop Revolution is compatible with existing bonus systems. However Bodyshop Revolution have developed an optional revised bonus structure based on the ToC Thinking Processes that removes the conflicts from traditional methods of renumeration to ensure that both the bonus system and business goals are completely aligned.
Will Bodyshop Revolution help reduce rework?
Inevitably, there will be things that can go wrong, however with the application of systems thinking we enable you to build quality into your new processes which not only speeds up production but reduces waste and failure demand. Because Bodyshop Revolution brings a calmness into the working environment and work flows continuously, errors are easily spotted and rectified, and recorded for subsequent analysis, contributing to the process of ongoing improvement.
